SBA wants Louisiana residents to prepare homes, businesses for disasters
The U.S. Small Business Administration is not waiting until a disaster happens to get out in communities. Leaders are touring Louisiana this month to urge businesses and homeowners to be prepared for disasters.
SBA spokesperson Susheel Kumar said, “We have assistance programs available to homeowners and renters as well and not just businesses and non-profits.”
Homeowners still recovering from Hurricane Ida can borrow up to 20% of the loan approved for mitigating against a similar event.
SBA leaders stressed the importance of being prepared for any type of disaster.
They suggest everyone review their insurance policy to understand what it covers and what it doesn’t and to consider making any travel, hotel, and meal arrangements in advance. Other ways to prepare before a storm include keeping an adequate supply of water, nonperishable food, batteries, cleaning supplies, first aid supplies, and other necessities on hand.
