LSU Alexandria Named 4th Best College in Louisiana Amid Record Growth

Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) has been ranked #4 in Niche’s 2025 Best Colleges in Louisiana, marking a significant achievement for the institution. This recognition comes as LSUA experiences record-breaking enrollment, with 6,904 undergraduate students, a 28% increase—the highest growth rate among all Louisiana universities.

Chancellor Paul Coreil attributes this surge to the university’s high-quality, affordable education and its commitment to student success and workforce readiness. At a time when many universities are seeing declining enrollment, LSUA continues to grow, solidifying its reputation as a premier institution in the South.

A key factor in LSUA’s expansion is the rise of its online programs, which have grown by 46% in just one year, now serving nearly 4,000 students. On-campus enrollment has also increased by 9%, bringing the total number of in-person students to 2,921. This growth highlights LSUA’s commitment to flexibility and accessibility, offering education to students across all 64 Louisiana parishes, all 50 U.S. states, and 25 countries worldwide.

Niche’s rankings evaluate colleges based on a combination of academic quality, student life, admissions data, and financial value. This year, the methodology introduced an Economic Mobility Index, emphasizing economic advancement opportunities for low-income students, while placing less weight on standardized test scores.

Student feedback on LSUA remains overwhelmingly positive. Many cite the university’s supportive faculty, engaging campus environment, and strong career preparation. One freshman shared in a five-star review, “LSUA makes you feel confident and capable, and that you can actually start your journey in life as an independent young person.” Additionally, 95% of surveyed students agree that LSUA professors are approachable and helpful.
